Ready to help? Start with the Epilepsy Foundation Heroes Among Us initiative designed to educate the public about epilepsy and raise money in search for a cure and for programs and services to make everyday better for people living with epilepsy.

How does it work?

The Epilepsy Foundation is hosting a special website where you can post a unique web page that tells a story about the challenges and victories of living with epilepsy. Feature yourself or someone you love! We believe sharing your personal experiences of living with epilepsy will foster greater understanding and acceptance for our cause. Best of all, visitors to your web page can donate directly to the Epilepsy Foundation and help us fight for a cure!

Participating in Heroes Among Us is a great way to educate and inspire support for our mission to work for children and adults affected by seizures through research, education, advocacy and service.

How can I help?

In addition to sharing your personal stories you can also participate in the fundraising campaign designed to raise much needed funding for epilepsy research, programs and services.

The Heroes fundraising program is somewhat similar to a walk-a-thon or race whereby you set the amount you are trying to raise and then engage family and friends to support your goal with contributions. Heroes uses this same concept except it utilizes the internet.

As a participant in the fundraising campaign you can:

• Set your own personal fundraising goal. As you build your personal page, one of the questions will prompt you to set your personal fundraising goal.
• You can post pictures of your family, your art, or your hobby.
• E-mail your personal page to family and friends and engage them to help you reach your fundraising goal with contributions to the Epilepsy Foundation. Each time a contribution is made from your page:
  • You will receive an automatic e-mail notification of the gift received.
  • Your personal page will automatically record the gift and update the total contributions raised.
  • Your family member or friend will receive a thank you letter from the Epilepsy Foundation for their gift.

If you choose not to create a personal page at this time, we hope you will support an existing Hero by making a contribution in their honor.
